Talk by Alloyed in the Department
It was wonderful to have a talk by a former Materials student now working at Alloyed to come back into his old lecture theatre and enlighten us with the technological advancements being made in Additive Manufacturing.

Trip to Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains, Brixworth
We are very glad to have organised this wonderful and one-of-a-kind trip to Mercedes AMG HPP! Here, the powerunit is made for the Mercedes F1 team and also the McLaren, Alpine and Williams customer F1 teams! 24 Oxford STEM students travelled from Oxford to Brixworth with the ambiton of discovering what made the Mercedes powerunit one of the best in Formula One. The visit was insightful and informative. Thank you to our contacts and the Materials team at Mercedes for the generosity with their time!

Industrial Visit to First Light Fusion
A MatSoc-organised departmental visit to First Light Fusion which are pioneers in Inertial Confinement Fusion. It was truly interesting to appreciate their unqiue approach to achieving fusion.

Triple Social
This was our World CUp themed event! The afternoon kicked off with free G&Ds followed by a kickabout in University Parks and then watching Germany beat Curacao 7 goals to 1 at The Chequers.

Halfway Hall
The second year students celebrated the halfway mark of their degrees with a dinner at Franco Manca!

Prelims Revision Sessions
MatSoc organised 3 drop-in revision sessions led by 2nd year students for the 1st years who wanted some help in the preparation for their upcoming exams.

Imperial Materials Society Crossover Event
It was wonderful to host the Imperial Materials Society at our department in Oxford! The morning session started with a lecture given by a professor in the department on nuclear fusion., Following an exclusive lunch break at Trinity Collge, the afternoon session consisted of a lecture on cracks characterisation by another professor in the department.
